Spanish cinematographer José Luis Alcaine AEC (“The Skin I Live In”, “Volver”) spoke with ARRI about the western “Strange Way of Life” (“Extraña forma de vida”), directed by Pedro Almodóvar. The film was shot on the ALEXA 35 paired with ARRI Signature Prime lenses. This short premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. “With the ALEXA 35, the colour performance was very good, and so were the contrast and the definition,” Alcaine explains. He also sets out why, in his view, a film should show great precision of focus and detail, and reveals what he hopes for from the audiences who watch his films.
