Through this “Visit to…” article format, the idea is to introduce each of our partners through an encounter that covers both the services offered and the energy that drives the team.
We met Philippe Journet, head of the television and cinema department at Impact, on the occasion of two events organized by the company. One took place at their Aubervilliers office, the other at the headquarters in Longjumeau.
UCO: Philippe, could you introduce the company and its mission, its field of activity and its history?
IMPACT EVENEMENT is a company based in Longjumeau (91), specializing since 1987 in technical services and event rental (lighting, video, sound, rigging and electrical distribution). An office located in Aubervilliers (93) is dedicated to managing cinema & television projects; its location at the heart of film studios and in close proximity to cinema rental houses makes it an ideal partner for your projects.

UCO: Could you introduce its directors?
Stephane Fleury and Xavier Drouet have been running the company since its beginnings. They have been committed to growing it by staying on the lookout for the best technologies and surrounding themselves with teams that are attentive to clients, both commercially and technically.
UCO: What are your flagship products?
AYRTON and ROBE automated fixtures, GrandMA Lighting consoles.
UCO: What made you become partners of the Union?
We have a very strong desire to introduce automated fixtures to the film industry. These precision tools offer a new way of shaping light and highlighting actors and sets that make up the image.
UCO: For you, what is a Cinematographer?
The cinematographer is, for us, the guardian of the visual quality of a film’s image, whether it be a feature film, a commercial, or a television show. They bring their creative expertise through lighting specific to each project, and a way of framing that meets the director’s expectations.
UCO: What do you expect from the Union and its members?
Our expectations regarding the UCO and its members can be summed up in two words: curiosity and passion. Curiosity to discover a new way of working with lighting, for greater responsiveness and flexibility. A passion for sharing these new experiences with as many people as possible and for exchanging with us, whether during project preparation or during open house events at our facilities.

UCO: How do you see the future of the profession, and your relationship with it?
Lighting professions are set to evolve due to the use of digital light, just as camera-related professions evolved during the transition from film to digital. Lighting crews will trade clothespins and ladders for lighting consoles and dedicated applications for certain fixtures. These new roles will bring a different fluidity to shoots. We want to participate in and support these future changes.
UCO: What are your projects?
