We met Morgan Angove, Managing Director of Direct Digital in Paris, to ask him a few questions.
UCO: Morgan, what characterizes Direct Digital?
Morgan: Direct Digital is a company within the Panavision group. Historically, we specialize in renting photographic equipment and lighting (flash or continuous). As requests grew on photo shoots for “behind the scenes” or video clips, we gradually adapted by offering digital and video equipment.
Our technical assistance and first-rate customer service are an integral part of the experience we aim to provide each of you. Our doors are wide open to any professional, assistant or enthusiast who would like to stop by, ask questions or test equipment, regardless of which office. We are proud to offer the same flexibility, the same reliability of service and quality, whether you are at our offices in Paris, London, Manchester or Cape Town.
UCO: What made you become a partner of the Union?
Morgan: Our video department is increasingly well equipped, and meets the needs of cinematographers looking for a responsive team that can offer solutions for short-term projects.
UCO: What do you expect from the Union and from its members?
Morgan: More exchanges, listening, joint projects (training, for example), collaborations and perhaps even a certain complicity.
UCO: How do you see the future of your profession, and your relationship with ours?
Morgan: The profession is evolving very rapidly, at the speed of new technologies. Our challenge is to support our clients in discovering these technical innovations, whether they are passing trends or lasting ones.
UCO: What are your plans?
Morgan: Photography remains and will always remain our core business, but the line between photo and video is becoming blurred. Our long-standing photo clients are increasingly asking us for equipment for a shoot, on top of the photo session. We want to stay flexible and continue to better serve our clients, better understand their needs and ideally anticipate them by investing in the necessary equipment ahead of projects.
