We were saddened to learn of Mr. Tass’s passing through a Facebook post on the account of Loca Images, a partner of the UCO. My personal memory of Mr. Tass is closely linked to a somewhat precarious film shoot, back when we were shooting low-budget documentaries with DV tapes. To ensure our Sony DCR-PC330 cameras could withstand the cold mountain conditions, I thought we needed to be able to keep the batteries under our warm coats. However, there were no accessories available from Sony or any third-party manufacturer for this purpose. Certainly not an insurmountable problem, but it required some thinking and a reliable solution. So I went to Loca Images and after a brief discussion about the film we were going to shoot, Mr. Tass suggested a custom-made, lightweight, economical, and compact device – the essential requirement for this project. A technical solution that proved effective and robust. The UCO shares in the grief of the Loca Images team, to whom we offer our condolences. Thank you, Mr. Tass.
